Something to Note...
We believe that the true power of crystals comes from your personal connection with them.
Rather than relying on lengthy descriptions of what a crystal can do, we encourage you to use your intuition when selecting which crystal you need. Very often the elaborate descriptions will likely leave you feeling more overwhelmed and confused than clarified!
By tuning into your intuition, you'll discover how the crystal can uniquely support you in your journey. Trust the process, listen to the energy it offers, and let it reveal its purpose to you — because the best healing comes from within.
If you need help on how to select crystals, you can follow our “How to Choose Crystals Guide”.
What Is Aquamarine?
Chemical Composition: Aquamarine is a variety of beryl with the chemical formula Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈. Its blue to blue-green colour is due to trace amounts of iron.
Origin: Aquamarine is found in numerous locations, with significant sources including Brazil, Pakistan, Madagascar, Nigeria, and Russia. Other deposits exist in the United States, Mozambique, and Afghanistan.
Crystal System and Habits: Aquamarine belongs to the hexagonal crystal system and typically forms in well-defined, prismatic hexagonal crystals. It is often found as large, transparent crystals with high clarity.
Crystal Family or Group: Aquamarine is part of the beryl group, which also includes emerald, morganite, and heliodor.
Hardness and Durability: Aquamarine has a hardness of 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, making it relatively durable and suitable for jewellery, though it can still be scratched by harder materials.
Colour: Aquamarine ranges from pale blue to deep blue-green, with deeper blues being the most valued. Heat treatment is commonly used to enhance its blue colour by reducing greenish tones.
Methods for Cleansing and Charging Aquamarine
Water: Aquamarine is safe to cleanse with water, as it is relatively durable. However, prolonged exposure to water may cause fractures over time. Rinse briefly under running water and dry thoroughly.
Moonlight: Placing aquamarine under the full moon’s light is a gentle way to cleanse and recharge its soothing energy.
Sunlight: Limited sun exposure can revitalise aquamarine, but prolonged exposure may fade its colour over time.
Selenite: Use a selenite plate to cleanse aquamarine without physical contact with water or chemicals.
Visualisation: Hold aquamarine in your hands and visualise a cool, blue light washing over it, removing stagnant energy and restoring its clarity.
Sound: Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl or tuning fork to cleanse aquamarine and refresh its tranquil energy.
Smoke Cleansing: Pass aquamarine through the smoke of herbs like sage, palo santo, or lavender to clear any lingering energies.
Storage and Protection: Store aquamarine separately from harder stones to prevent scratches. It is best kept in a soft cloth or pouch when not in use.
How to Use Aquamarine
Meditation and Spiritual Work: Use aquamarine in meditation to promote calmness, clarity, and emotional balance. Holding it or placing it on the throat chakra can support communication and self-expression.
Jewellery and Accessories: Wearing aquamarine as jewellery keeps its tranquil energy close, making it a popular choice for rings, pendants, and earrings.
Home and Office: Place aquamarine in living spaces to create a peaceful and harmonious environment. It is especially useful in workspaces where clear communication is needed.
Crystal Grids: Add aquamarine to crystal grids to encourage emotional healing, clarity, and fluidity in communication.
Elixir or Infused Water: Always use the indirect method to make elixirs.
