Something to Note...

We believe that the true power of crystals comes from your personal connection with them.

Rather than relying on lengthy descriptions of what a crystal can do, we encourage you to use your intuition when selecting which crystal you need. Very often the elaborate descriptions will likely leave you feeling more overwhelmed and confused than clarified!

By tuning into your intuition, you'll discover how the crystal can uniquely support you in your journey. Trust the process, listen to the energy it offers, and let it reveal its purpose to you — because the best healing comes from within.

If you need help on how to select crystals, you can follow our “How to Choose Crystals Guide”.

What Is Citrine

  • Chemical Composition: Citrine is made of silicon dioxide or SiO₂. It has traces of iron that give it its colour.

  • Origin: Citrine is found worldwide, but it's mainly found in Brazil, Madagascar, Russia, and the United States.

  • Crystal System or Habits: Citrine takes the form of different kinds of crystals. Sometimes it's prismatic or pyramidal; other times, it forms clusters.

  • Crystal Family or Group: It belongs to the quartz family, alongside amethyst, rose quartz, and smoky quartz.

  • Hardness and Durability: With a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, citrine is fairly resistant to scratches. However, it can still be easy to chip or break.

  • Colour: Citrine is known for its vibrant yellow to golden-brown colour. The intensity of the colour can vary, ranging from pale yellow to deep amber tones.

  • Treatments: Most citrine stones sold in shops today are heat-treated amethysts. This process changes the crystal's structure, turning amethyst's purple colour into citrine's golden-yellow shades. Although natural citrine exists, it's less common than the heat-treated kind.

Methods for Cleansing and Charging Citrine

  • Water: Citrine can be rinsed under running water to cleanse it.

  • Sunlight: Sunlight aligns with citrine's energetic properties but be careful, citrine's colour made fade if exposed to high or prolonged temperature.

  • Moonlight: Place citrine under the full moon to cleanse and recharge its energy, allowing the lunar light to refresh its vibrancy and positive qualities.

  • Selenite: Use a selenite plate to cleanse and charge citrine by placing the stone on the selenite surface for a couple hours.

  • Visualisation: Hold citrine in your hands and visualise a golden light flowing through it, clearing away any stagnant energy and re-energising the stone with positivity.

  • Sound: Cleanse citrine using sound vibrations from a singing bowl or tuning fork. Pass the stone through the sound waves to refresh its energy.

  • Storage and Protection: Store citrine away from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure may cause the stone’s colour to fade. Wrap it in a soft cloth or keep it in a pouch to prevent scratches.

How to Use Citrine

  • Meditation and Spiritual Work: Use citrine during meditation to boost personal power and confidence. Hold it near your solar plexus or in your hands to connect with its energy of abundance.

  • Jewellery and Accessories: Wear citrine as jewellery or carry a small piece with you to benefit from its uplifting, prosperous energy throughout the day.

  • Home and Office: Place citrine in your workspace or home to attract abundance, success, and positivity. Its bright energy is especially effective in areas where you focus on finances or creative projects.

  • Crystal Grids: Use citrine as a focal point in crystal grids aimed at manifesting abundance, creativity, or success. Pair it with stones like green aventurine or pyrite to amplify its effects.

  • Elixir or Infused Water: Always use the indirect method when making a citrine-infused elixir, however, citrine is generally safe for direct contact if desired.
